LOCATION: Alexandra Park, beside English Bay in Vancouver
DATE: Installed in December 2015 in conjunction with the 2015 Lumiere Festival
ARTISTS: Carlyn Yandle
TYPE: Installation comprised of multiple layers of stretched, knit fabric and lighting

The Haywood Bandstand architecture easily lent itself as a large-scale lantern glowing with the embers of the memories from past sunsets. Lit from within, the overlapping layers of fabric evoked the setting sun. Colours transitioned from orange to red, fading to pink, fusing into lilac and finally reaching to a sky blue in the cupola. This work aimed to evoke the connections of a lighthouse or beacon (of hope).
